Lu Guang

No one was saying anything about China. When the photographer Lu Guang went missing in Kashgar, I wondered if we could try and help. But it was said that public campaigns could make it worse. I watched an interactive New York Times article about digital state surveillance of the Uighur minority in China. The state uses apps and facial recognition software for ethnic profiling - a new era of automated authoritarianism.

Disappearance and eradication.
