Tim’s address to the ICA

“To the ICA. Many, or rather, most of you have never heard of me. That's because the system has buried me without worry, or expectations of me ever emerging. However, I have emerged. And because I continue to "challenge the past, question the present, and confront the future," I am considered a siren that must be silenced. Never one to be tacit in the face of tyranny, torture, or terrorism, I blare loudly and let my art do the speaking. Through my collaborative works with renowned artist Sofia Karim, I am able to do just that!”

Tim Young

Tim and Sofia’s work was presented at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), London.

A clip of their artwork Hail Mary 2025, addressed to California governor Gavin Newsom, was screened. In a gesture of solidarity, the audience called for the freedom of Tim Young as well as Indian political prisoner, Surendra Gadling. The organisers produced a pamphlet which included a “write to Tim” and “write to Surendra” letter writing action.
